One thing they have in common is they are usually insulating in their original forms, while useful in some circumstances this isn’t universal. Avanzare offer specialist products for the ESD/antistatic market which can alter the physical properties of the polymers.

Features and benefits

The range features permanent and semi-permanent colourable and black additives. vailable for use in variety of industries, the Avanzare range is a viable alternative to carbon black. At effective loading levels CB can have an impact on viscosity which requires costly reactive diluents. The Avanzare range has a limited impact on viscosity while maintaining effectiveness making formulation simpler.

The use of avanSAFE detector is an easily compounded material which makes plastics/elastomers to be easily found by metal detectors. This is key for plastics which are used in the in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The product is easily compounded into polymers with minimal wear to mixing equipment.

The application of avanNATUR ODORLESS P eliminates or reduces the incidence of unpleasant odours in manufactured materials, capturing light aromatic molecules that occur due to the use of these polymers. This product is especially efficient against aldehydes and carboxylic acid molecules.

Antistatic/ESD additives impart certain conductivity in host materials so that they can release static electricity effectively in a controlled way and thus prevent problems caused by static electricity and uncontrolled electrostatic discharges, such as electric shocks, destruction of electronic circuits, sparks, appliance malfunctions, dust adhesion and explosions.

AvanSAFE makes plastics detectable without impacting on product performance. The increase of plastic use in food preparation environments produces challenges as the product is difficult to detect as a possible contaminant if these parts become damaged or broken. AvanSAFE makes plastics detectable without impacting on product performance.

Elastomers

The Avanzare range of semi-permanent and permanent anti-static/ESD additives are suitable for a wide range of polymers. A highlight of the range is colourless ESD additive allowing for elastomers to be coloured other than black. Unlike carbon black ESD additives the Avanzare products also avoid reinforcing properties of CB. The graphene range is particularly effective in silicone products which can be difficult to impart ESD properties on.

Coatings

It’s possible to produce anti-dust and antistatic coatings with the Avanzare range. The anti-dust is an effective solution in acrylic and unsaturated polyester resin systems. Low dosages provide 109MΩ, with fully colourable, non-toxic formulations. AvanGRP 40 is an additive based on graphene in powder form. It is designed to produce conductive surfaces and ESD in Epoxy and Acrylic resins, colourable and formulated to reduced impact on viscosity and final properties of the finished product. It is suitable for ATEX zones and for water-based resins.

Composites

The key advantage of graphene in ESD for composite resin systems is the low impact on viscosity compared to carbon black alternatives. Due to the particle size of carbon black, thixotropic interference is possible at effective concentrations. The graphene system is a permanent conductive solution for UPR and EVER resins, commonly used in ATEX systems, filament winding and cast systems.
