Additives

Factice rubber additives are versatile materials with a long history in the rubber industry. Originally developed as a rubber substitute, Factice is now primarily used as a functional additive in various rubber applications, including natural and synthetic rubber products. Factice has genuine green credentials as it starts life as vegetable oil before undergoing being vulcanised with sulphur. The most common oils used are castor or rapeseed. The quality of the raw material and processing steps determine the final colours of the Factice ranging from dark brown, amber through to white.

Oil Extension

All products can be oil extended where soft compounds are required.

Features and benefits

Commonly used as rubber additive, it is compatible with most natural and synthetic polymers and provides a velvety surface finish and supple feel to products.

Absorbs a large amount of plasticizers, preventing the liquids to bleed from surface. Reduces die smell and calendar shrinking.

In all grades, Factice provides excellent dimensional stability, and offers much improved flow to the compound thus improving extrusion rate.

Improves oil and solvent resistance in some grades.

Delivers a pin hole free surface on the final product.

Offers good abrasion for products for grind surface.

Factice offers several benefits in the production and performance of rubber rollers:

Factice enhances the extrusion process, leading to better dimensional accuracy and surface quality of rollers. It imparts an excellent surface finish to rollers, improving their overall quality and feel. It can also improve the surface when rollers are ground. For soft rubber rollers, oil extended options are available to help achieve the desired softness.

Factice shortens the mixing time of other compounding agents, streamlining the manufacturing process. It improves workability in sheeting and extrusion processes, which are crucial steps in roller manufacturing

Factice is an excellent additive to help de-gas rubber mixtures which aids reduction of air pockets and bubbles.
