NSE

Neuburg Siliceous Earth

Neuburg Siliceous Earth is a natural combination of corpuscular Neuburg silica and lamellar kaolinite: a loose mixture impossible to separate by physical methods. As a result of natural aging, the silica portion exhibits a round grain shape and consists of aggregated primary particles about 200 nm diameter. Such a unique structure is responsible for a relatively high specific surface area and oil absorption, which results in a whole range of application properties.

Features and Benefits

Neuburg Siliceous Earth —Is a mineral which is easily and rapidly mixed into all formulations. The dispersion profile results in short mixing times, no agglomerates, good rheological properties and good pigment/additive dispersion. High degree of filling low compound costs.

Excellent surface visually perfect articles, few rejects. Low tension and compression set excellent sealing properties. High electrical resistivity insulation with low loss.

Favourable aging properties long service life, cost reduction through low need for anti-aging agents. Superior chemical resistance high resistance against aggressive media.

A high level of purity means that it can be used in pharmaceutical articles and food contact materials.

Calcined NSE — This offers a lower moisture absorption, and therefore a lower risk of blistering for pressure-less vulcanisation. It also has the lowest chloride content in the range.

This is a high white product, and as such there is less of a need for white pigments like titanium dioxide to aid optimum dispersion,

even in critical compounds, and is comparable with Puriss products short mixing times.

Calcined NSE also provides excellent dispersion characteristics.

Industries

Elastomers

When used in elastomers NSE typically offer good extrusion, calendaring properties with high haul-off speeds. For high quality extrusion articles good surface quality is observed. NSE has no negative influence on cure rate, good thermal conductivity short vulcanisation time.

NSE Avoids mould fouling/deposits on dies caused by traditional platy fillers, resulting in high productivity and low costs thanks to reduction of stoppages for cleaning and prevention of waste. This can be further improved with Silfit and Aktifit ranges.

Very fine cell structure in sponge and microcellular rubber high quality sponge and expanded rubber products. The potential for improved oil resistance combined with the very low compression set for meeting high demands for sealing compounds.

In Silicone Rubber the product reduces stickiness, offer impressive compression set and eliminates bloom without post curing. It also can help reduce ATH loading in flame retardant applications while reducing smoke production and dropping LOI.

Coatings

Easy and rapid incorporation, excellent dispersion properties (especially Puriss products), very low sedimentation with no hard sediment formation. Good rheological properties (shear thinning, thixotropic). Matting effect, very fast drying, good intercoat adhesion, water vapour permeability. Good pigment dispersion (spacer effect) improving dispersion of other ingredients. Good edge covering, easy and rapid sanding, excellent stone-chipping resistance, good mechanical properties, good corrosion protection. It’s easier to work with and reducing production issues. Calcined kaolin can be used as an electrical insulation additive in rubber. It provides low conductivity, making it suitable for applications where electrical insulation is required.

Life Science

NSE is used in cosmetics and soap for its gentle cleansing and exfoliating properties. NSE is a natural resource that has been used for years in the beauty industry as an ingredient in many beauty products. NSE is gentle on the skin and is an excellent alternative to artificial scrubs and abrasives.
