Features and benefits

Enhanced Physical Properties – Flexibility, Elasticity and Dimensional Stability. These blends offer good low-temperature flexibility and elasticity. The melt viscosity of NBR/PVC remains relatively stable over a wide temperature range, improving processing conditions and dimensional stability. NBR significantly improves the wear resistance of the blend, extending the service life of products.

Performance Enhancements – Colour Retention: The blend exhibits better pigment-carrying capacity, resulting in improved retention of bright colours. NBR-PVC blends show lower plasticizer volatility, ensuring longer-lasting flexibility and reduced weight loss when in contact with oils. The addition of NBR can improve the electrical resistance.

Versatility and Cost-Effectiveness – NBR-PVC blends are used in various industries, including automotive, construction, footwear, and industrial goods. Blending NBR and PVC can be more cost-effective than using the individual materials separately, offering a balance of performance and affordability.

Industries

Automotive

Oil and Fuel Resistance – NBR-PVC blends excel in environments exposed to petroleum-based fluids, providing long-lasting sealing in automotive applications making them ideal for under hood usage.

They offer resistance to many chemicals including oils and none polar compounds, enhancing their versatility in various automotive environments.

These blends are known for their resistance to wear, tear, and abrasion, providing long service life in demanding automotive conditions. The addition of PVC to NBR significantly improves the blend’s resistance to ozone, weathering and temperature.

This is crucial in this industry, the products reliably perform in a wide temperature range, typically from -40°C to 120°C, ensuring flexibility across different locations.

Fire Protection

NBR-PVC blends offer significant advantages in fire protection applications due to their enhanced flame-retardant properties.

Self-Extinguishing – NBR-PVC compositions can be formulated to be rapidly self-extinguishing, even in vertical burning tests at low specimen thickness. These blends can achieve flame resistance without dripping, which is crucial for preventing fire spread.

With appropriate blending PVC Nitrile materials meet stringent fire safety standards. The combination of NBR and PVC creates a material with improved flame resistance compared to NBR alone, which is flammable.

Temperature Resistance – PVC Nitrile can withstand temperatures up to 108°C, contributing to its fire protection capabilities

Cables

NBR-PVC blends offer significant advantages in cable and wire applications – The addition of NBR improves the electrical insulation properties of the blend, making it suitable for cable jackets and electrical insulation. PVC Nitrile foams provides excellent thermal insulation, helping to minimize energy loss in cable applications.

The closed-cell structure of NBR-PVC blends offers inherent moisture resistance, keeping metal components dry and preventing corrosion. These blends exhibit excellent resistance to ozone and weathering, crucial for outdoor cable applications.

Oil and Solvent Resistance – NBR-PVC is particularly useful for cable sheathing where resistance to oils and solvents is paramount. The blends maintain good flexibility across a wide temperature range, typically from -40°C to 120°C3. NBR-PVC can be formulated to meet stringent flame retardant standards, enhancing safety in cable applications.
